A leading construction company in Johor is seeking an Engineering Lead to manage marine civil and structural projects. The role involves designing, reviewing, and managing various marine structures such as jetties and pump stations. Candidates should possess 8–12 years of experience in marine structural design and a strong ability to lead teams. Proficiency in relevant design software and stakeholder management skills is essential. This position offers a hands-on approach to engineering solutions and project coordination.
We are seeking ahands-on Engineering Leadwith strong design capability and team leadership skills to drive the delivery of marine civil and structural projects. The role will be responsible fordesigning, reviewing, and managing marine structures and systems includingjetties, ports, wharfs, quay walls, intake/outfall systems, underground pump stations, and conveyance systems (GRP, HDPE, RCCP, box culverts).
The Engineering Lead will be expected todesign independently,manage consultants, andlead tender preparations while guiding a small team of drafters/engineers. This is a strategic role for someone who thrives in both technical design and project coordination, ensuring high-quality, safe, and cost-effective engineering solutions.
Lead and perform feasibility, conceptual, basic, and detailed design of marine structures.
Carry out and review design calculations, drawings, and technical specifications for compliance and constructability.
Develop engineering solutions for intake/outfall pipelines, underground pump stations, and marine conveyance systems.
Provide value engineering input during design and execution to optimize cost and constructability.
Ensure compliance with international codes and standards (BS, Eurocodes, API, DNV, etc.).
Lead the preparation ofBOQs, cost estimates, design inputs, and technical clarificationsfor tenders.
Evaluate vendor/subcontractor technical proposals.
Support bid strategies by aligning engineering solutions with commercial competitiveness.
Act as technical liaison in client and consultant meetings.
Coordinate design reviews, workshops, and approvals with stakeholders and authorities.
Provide technical support during project execution, ensuring alignment between design intent and site implementation.
Assist with method statements, work procedures, and construction engineering documents.
Conduct occasional site visits for inspections and technical clarifications.
Support audits, inspections, and post-project reviews to capture lessons learned.
Lead and mentor a small team of drafters/designers; engage part-time resources where needed.
Build in-house design capability and maintain technical knowledge database.
Foster a culture of safety, quality, and engineering excellence.
8–12 years’ experiencein marine structural/civil design and construction, preferably from contractor side.
Strong hands-on design capability (must be able to produce and check designs).
Proven experience in tender preparation (cost estimates, BOQs, clarifications).
Solid track record in projects involving jetties, quay walls, intake/outfall systems, pump stations, and pipelines.
Proficient in design software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, SACS, Plaxis, Civil 3D, AutoCAD).
Strong stakeholder management, communication, and report-writing skills.
Based inJohor (Puteri Harbour)with flexibility for occasional site visits.
