A respected calibration laboratory in Malaysia is seeking a Laboratory Technical Manager (Mechanical) to oversee quality management, lead a team, and manage laboratory operations. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 5-8 years of relevant experience, particularly with ISO/IEC 17025. We are an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited calibration laboratory based in Malaysia, currently specializing in the calibration of Torque Tools and Torque Testers/Transducers. As part of our strategic growth, we are actively expanding our accredited scope to include pressure gauges, nut runners, static load testing, and additional parameters in the future.
Oversee and maintain the Laboratory Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure ongoing compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements
Lead, mentor, and manage the laboratory team, including performance management, training, and resource allocation
Manage laboratory setup, infrastructure, equipment maintenance, and facility requirements
Drive laboratory development, including planning and execution of new scope extensions for accreditation (e.g., pressure gauges, nut runners, static load testing)
Supervise calibration processes, review technical data, and ensure accurate and timely generation of calibration certificates
Conduct internal audits, risk assessments, and proficiency testing coordination
Liaise with accreditation bodies (e.g., Standards Malaysia) and customers on technical matters
Identify opportunities for process improvement, efficiency gains, and future service expansion
Handle any additional responsibilities as the laboratory grows
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related), Physics, Metrology, or a relevant technical discipline
At least 5–8 years of hands‑on experience in a calibration or testing laboratory, with proven involvement in ISO/IEC 17025 implementation and maintenance
Prior experience in a managerial or supervisory role within an accredited laboratory is highly preferred
Strong technical knowledge in torque calibration; experience with pressure gauges, nut runners, or force/load testing will be a distinct advantage
Demonstrated experience in scope extension projects and dealing with accreditation bodies
Excellent leadership, communication, and people management skills
Detail‑oriented with strong problem‑solving and organizational abilities
Proficient in English (written and spoken); proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia is an advantage
Familiarity with uncertainty budgeting, measurement traceability, and relevant standards (e.g., MS ISO/IEC 17025, DKD, ASTM)
