A growing design firm in Kuala Lumpur seeks a Junior Interior Designer who is responsible, detail-oriented, and capable of site coordination. The candidate should possess a Diploma or Bachelor's in Interior Design and have at least one year of relevant experience. Responsibilities include understanding space planning, preparing 2D AutoCAD drawings, and coordinating with suppliers and subcontractors. We are looking for a responsible, detail-oriented, and proactive Junior Interior Designer to join our team. This role focuses more on understanding drawings, site coordination, and execution rather than heavy 3D drafting work. The candidate must be independent, responsive, and able to handle tasks independently with guidance provided.
Have a good understanding of space planning and carpentry drawings.
Occasionally prepare or update 2D drawings (AutoCAD).
Review and understand 3D drawings prepared by external vendors.
Prepare quotations for small-scale projects (starting with guidance).
Communicate and coordinate effectively with subcontractors and suppliers.
Conduct site visits for measurement, inspection, and site support.
Assist in solving on-site issues and provide practical solutions.
Monitor work progress and ensure quality meets design intent.
Maintain good relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
Respond promptly to work messages and updates.
Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field.
Minimum 1 year of experience.
Basic proficiency in AutoCAD (2D knowledge is required).
Must understand carpentry detailing and construction drawings.
Strong sense of responsibility and problem-solving skills.
Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.
Punctual, responsive, and disciplined in work communication.
Willing to learn and ask questions when in doubt.
Good coordination and relationship management skills.
Must possess own transport and be willing to travel to project sites (KL).
Mandarin speaking preferred as role requires communication with Mandarin-speaking clients and suppliers.
