Job description
Industrial Designer (Hands-On with Fabrication & Machinery)

TaZ Corporation is a Malaysian-based design and manufacturing company specializing in innovative acoustic solutions and sustainable interior products. We turn recycled PET and other eco‑conscious materials into modern acoustic panels, dividers, ceiling features, and more — designed not just for function, but for visual impact and environmental responsibility.

With growing markets in Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Philippines, and India, we are pushing the boundaries of material design and fabrication. To support this growth, we’re looking for a unique type of designer — someone who isn’t just creative, but also hands‑on, technical, and curious enough to bring ideas to life with their own tools.

What This Role Is About

This is not your typical studio job. You’ll be expected to own your ideas from concept to physical reality. That means you’ll split your time between your design station and the production floor, working directly with laser cutters, CNC machines, and PET materials to test and refine your work.

You’ll collaborate with a tight‑knit R&D and design team to experiment with form, texture, joinery, and assembly. Your work will range from one‑off custom projects to scalable modular systems, all aimed at improving acoustic performance in creative, sustainable ways.

If you’re the type who loves to build prototypes, experiment with materials, operate machines, and still have an eye for design — this role will feel like home.

Key Responsibilities
  • Translate design concepts into technical 2D/3D drawings using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar tools
  • Operate digital fabrication tools (laser cutter, CNC router) to produce prototypes and small batch production pieces
  • Explore new product forms using PET, wood, and composite materials — focusing on acoustic performance and ease of installation
  • Assemble mock‑ups and test product ideas, ensuring form, function, and durability meet real‑world requirements
  • Work closely with R&D, production, and project teams to iterate on new ideas and refine existing designs
  • Join occasional site visits for installation checks, mock‑up presentations, or client reviews
  • Maintain accurate drawing files, technical specs, and production instructions for internal reference
  • Stay updated on fabrication techniques, sustainable materials, and design trends relevant to acoustic interiors
What We’re Looking For
  • Diploma or Degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, or related field
  • 2–3 years of working experience in furniture, interior, product, or acoustic design
  • Proficient in CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and basic Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop
  • Comfortable operating laser cutters, CNC machines, or similar digital fabrication tools (training can be provided if needed)
  • Strong spatial and structural awareness — able to visualize how parts come together
  • Passionate about hands‑on making, physical prototyping, and seeing ideas through to execution
  • Curious, self‑motivated, and open to feedback from multiple teams
  • Able to switch between computer‑based design and workshop tasks as needed
What We Offer
  • Full‑cycle design experience — from sketch and 3D modeling to hands‑on fabrication and final product execution
  • Access to workshop and machines for testing, prototyping, and experimentation
  • Exposure to regional and international projects with real client impact
  • Career growth in a fast‑moving, design‑led company with R&D at its core
  • Creative freedom to explore new materials, forms, and acoustic ideas
  • Collaborative, no‑politics culture that values teamwork, experimentation, and shared goals
