You will be an executive and trusted partner to the CEO and executives, to lead and manage a team to maintain integrity of the financial results and support a sustained and profitable growth in line with the business plans.
The role is a key member of the Country Executive Team and reports to Regional CFO and Country CEO, with direct and matrix responsibility for our onshore and offshore teams in:
•Financial planning and analysis including Forecasting and Planning (FPA)
•Financial Accounting and Reporting (FAR)
•Finance Operations
•Projects and initiatives
Your New Role:
- Identify and exploit opportunities to increase profitability of the business through cost control and asset management, risk management, and compliance.
- Advising on the financial implications of management initiatives and decisions.
- Establish and continually modify general policy, procedures and systems to increase the effectiveness of the finance function.
- Adopt consistent financial processes and/or technologies where appropriate to optimize resources and investment.
- Ensure compliance with Group Office reporting deadlines / timeframes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders including banking and financial institutions, auditors, government and regulatory bodies to ensure quality service and sound commercial terms.
- Network with QBE Finance functions around the division, so as to enable appropriate consistency of process and encourage the sharing and adopting of best practice.
- Keep abreast and monitor regulatory development to ensure that the impact of any changes are reviewed and actioned.
- Provide regular reports, recommendations and interpretations to the leadership group based on financial and operating data and variances in the budget
- Ensuring accurate and timely financial reports for the whole organization so as to provide a clear insight into its financial condition.
- Manage a Team in Finance, ensuring clear engagement, career pathways as well as SMART goals are set and measured for all levels of staff.
- Facilitate the team achievement of KPIs and preparation and implementation of Performance Management Process with team to ensure expectations are understood and met
About You:
- At least 10 years experience in an accounting role, in the General Insurance industry AND Bank Negara reporting (incl MFRS17)
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact at a Senior Management and/or Board level.
- Cantonese language preferred and leadership and mentoring skills.
- External auditing experience preferred, but not necessary.
- Extensive experience as a people manager.
- Certified Public Accountant or relevant accounting qualification.
- Ability to organize and control large accounting systems.
- Knowledge of industry best practice in finance and accounting, internal controls and procedures
