JOB PURPOSE
Lead the strategic development and transformation of MISC Group’s maritime education initiatives through the modernization, rebranding, and business expansion of Akademi Laut Malaysia (ALAM). This role will spearhead collaboration with educational institutions, industry stakeholders, and government bodies, ensuring alignment with national priorities and maritime sector advancement.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Drive end-to-end development, implementation, and evaluation of education strategies that are closely aligned with MISC's long-term vision, business objectives and the evolving needs of maritime industry. This includes identifying new program opportunities, modernizing existing curricula, and ensuring ALAM remains at the forefront of maritime education.
- Establish and strengthen strategic partnerships with a diverse range of stakeholders such as local and international academic institutions (e.g., Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP)), industry bodies (e.g., International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the Malaysia Shipowners' Association (MASA)), and government entities (e.g., Ministry of Transport (MOT), Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and Marine Department (MarDep)) to ensure alignment with global maritime standards.
- Lead and drive the alignment of ALAM's educational initiatives with the national agenda for maritime sector development by understanding the national workforce needs, technological advancements, and policy directions to ensure ALAM graduates are well-prepared for the future of the industry.
- Serve as the custodian of maritime education governance, establishing and implementing robust policies and procedures ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices.
- Act as a key representative for MISC and ALAM in high-level education forums, conferences, and committees. Leverage these platforms to build influence in education policy discussions, advocate for ALAM's strategic interests, and contribute to the broader advancement of maritime education.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 12 years of related working experience in education strategy, business development or a related field, preferably within the education or maritime sector with relevant years of experience managerial capacity.
- Proven record of successful collaboration and partnership development with academic institutions and industry.
- Good understanding of the Malaysian education landscape and national development agendas.
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business Management or any relevant field.
- A Master’s degree is highly preferred.
