Job Description

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The Facilities Technician is responsible for performing daily facility maintenance, basic repairs, inspections, and supporting the overall operation of building utilities. This role ensures that the facility, equipment, and infrastructure operate safely and efficiently. The technician works closely with the Facility Engineer and vendors to carry out maintenance tasks, troubleshooting, and improvement activities.

SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

(Include but are not limited to the following:)

1. Facility Maintenance & Repairs

  • Perform routine maintenance and repair work on building systems including lighting, plumbing, HVAC filters, door mechanisms, and general facility components.
  • Conduct daily checks on facility equipment and machinery for abnormalities.
  • Respond to facility maintenance requests and troubleshoot minor issues before escalating to the Engineer.
  • Support preventive maintenance (PM) activities as scheduled.

2. Utilities Operation Support

  • Assist in monitoring electricity, water, compressed air, and other utilities to ensure systems operate properly.
  • Support the Facility Engineer in basic HVAC operation tasks such as filter replacement, cleaning, and system performance checks.
  • Ensure plant facilities are always maintained in safe operational condition.
  • Assist in overseeing vendors and contractors during on‑site maintenance, repair, cleaning, pest control, and hygiene service activities.
  • Ensure work areas are prepared for vendors, and safe conditions are maintained before and after the job.
  • Report any non‑compliance or unsafe work practices.
  • Assist in monitoring daily cleaning operations and hygiene service performance.
  • Support the plant’s general waste management activities including collecting, transferring, and proper storage.
  • Conduct periodic checks on cleanliness of common areas, washrooms, and facility spaces.

5. Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all maintenance tasks comply with safety requirements and internal procedures.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, faulty equipment, or potential hazards.
  • Participate in emergency response activities as needed.
  • Support HSE team in environmental and safety improvement programs.

6. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain daily activity logs and maintenance records.
  • Update checklists, inspection sheets, and PM reports.
  • Report equipment breakdowns, facility issues, or abnormalities to Facility Engineer.

7. Other Responsibilities

  • Assist in small project works, facility upgrades, and installations.
  • Support event setups or internal requests involving moving items, minor carpentry, or basic electrical tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Facility Engineer.
Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education

  • Certificate / Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Maintenance, or related technical discipline.
  • SPM with strong technical experience may be considered.

Experience

  • 1–3 years’ experience in facility maintenance or building services.
  • Fresh graduates from technical schools / vocational institutes (ILP, IKM, KKTM, GiatMARA) encouraged to apply.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Basic hands‑on skills in electrical, plumbing, mechanical repairs, general facility upkeep.
  • Knowledge of using hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment.
  • Ability to read basic electrical or mechanical diagrams is an advantage.
  • Good teamwork and communication skills.
  • Safety‑conscious and follows procedures strictly.
  • PW2/PW3 electrical certification, Wireman, Chargeman A4, or similar qualification is an added advantage.
