Job summary

A major rail construction project in Malaysia is looking for a Railway Operations Planner with a Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field and 2–3 years of experience. Responsibilities include developing dispatch plans for passenger and freight operations, ensuring compliance with safety requirements, and analysing operational performance. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, proficiency in railway planning tools and MS Office, along with a commitment to a safety-first mindset. This position is based in Kuantan, Pahang.

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Railway Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related fields.
  • 2–3 years of experience in railway operations planning, dispatching, timetabling, or control centre operations.
  • Strong knowledge of railway signalling, timetable principles, and traffic management systems.
  • Proficiency in railway planning tools and MS Office or Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure in time‑sensitive operational environments.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple departments.
  • Safety‑first mindset with strong operational discipline and teamwork orientation.
Responsibilities
  • Develop daily dispatch plans for passenger and freight operations.
  • Develop weekly dispatch plans to optimise locomotive and crew utilisation.
  • Allocate train paths, tracks, and platforms.
  • Consider maintenance windows, speed restrictions, and operational constraints.
  • Coordinate with OCC in real time.
  • Adjust train movements during disruptions, delays, or emergencies.
  • Monitor dispatch performance.
  • Analyse delays and recommend operational improvements.>
  • Prepare operational reports.
  • Ensure dispatch plans comply with signalling, safety, and regulatory requirements.
