We are currently seeking a Environmental & Sustainability Engineer to join our Consultancy/ Advisory team based in Kuala Lumpur.

The role requires knowledge and experience of sustainability management topics including development of sustainability strategies and application of ESG frameworks.

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing workload and resourcing in relation to a team of environmental and sustainability professionals whilst continuing to work on projects to further their own technical development.

About the role:

The successful candidate will work as part of the highly skilled Environmental & Sustainability Delivery Team within Genesis, supporting a wide range of clients on varied and interesting scopes of work. Knowledge of sustainability frameworks and management approaches, combined with prior experience of the application of these ideally in a consulting setting, is essential.

The role combines three elements across client engagement, project delivery and tendering and line management.

Client Engagement and Tendering
  • Engaging with clients to determine their requirements
  • Proposal input and preparation; and
  • Identification of new markets and service offerings related to sustainability advisory services.
Project Delivery
  • Project Management: Leading and managing projects related to sustainability and ESG from inception to completion, acting as the main contact on technical and commercial matters, and overseeing resources and budgets;
  • Conduct Sustainability Assessments: Evaluate an organisation’s current practices, policies, and impacts to identify areas for improvement;
  • Develop Sustainability Strategies: Create tailored action plans that align with the organisation’s goals and regulatory requirements;
  • Advise on Sustainable Practices: Provide guidance on sustainable technologies, practices, and compliance with environmental legislation to enhance overall performance.
Line Management
  • Liaison with Environmental & Sustainability Delivery Manager and other Environmental Study Managers to coordinate allocation of appropriate personnel across a range of projects (accounting for existing skills and learning opportunities);
  • Reporting to a team of environmental and sustainability consultants, engineers and scientists.
  • Development and retention of talent within their team; motivating team members to meet personal and business targets

About you:
  • Degree in relevant subject.
  • More than 5 years of experience in the energy industry, either as a consultant or engineer.
  • Knowledge of relevant frameworks, legislation and standards;
  • Project management experience on small to medium projects;
  • Experience in client relationship building;
  • Strong team player;
  • Well‑motivated and able to work to tight deadlines;
  • Excellent written skills with attention to detail.
