Job description

We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Engineer or Engineer to join our team at CASTCO SDN BHD in Teluk Panglima Garang, Selangor. As a full‑time position, you will play a crucial role in our Engineering or Quality control, operations, contributing to the strategic goals and success of the company.

Responsibilities
Customer Engineering & Communication
  • Review technical drawings, 3D models, and specifications with customers during the project initiation and development phases.
  • Provide DFM (Design for Manufacturability) feedback to customers for die‑cast components.
  • Attend engineering meetings with customers to discuss technical requirements, tolerance issues, material specs, and quality expectations.
  • Coordinate and respond to technical queries, design changes, and feasibility requests from customers.
Tooling & Development Coordination
  • Work closely with toolmakers to ensure die design, fabrication, and modification meet customer and internal casting requirements.
  • Oversee tooling timelines, die trials (T0, T1, T2), and improvement activities based on sample feedback.
  • Evaluate trial samples and coordinate with QC and production teams to validate dimensions, visual quality, and process stability.
Internal Engineering Interface
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and design teams to ensure smooth transition from development to mass production.
  • Lead or assist in APQP activities, including control plans, FMEA, PPAP, and process validations.
  • Participate in engineering change management (ECN/ECR) and maintain project documentation.
Quality Control
  • Ensure departmental objective, goals and procedures are established and implemented.
  • Develop and implement quality control plans, inspection standards, and testing procedures for die‑cast components.
  • Analyze product and process non‑conformity; lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Supervise and support QC inspectors in daily in‑process and final inspections.
  • Coordinate and perform First Article Inspection (FAI), incoming inspection, and outgoing quality audits.
  • Monitor and improve process capability (Cp, Cpk) and use Statistical Process Control (SPC) to maintain consistency.
  • Collaborate with design, production, and tooling teams to review casting defects (e.g., porosity, cold shuts, shrinkage) and recommend improvements.
  • Participate in the preparation and submission of PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documents for new or revised parts.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and customer‑specific quality requirements.
  • Conduct internal audits and support external customer or certification audits.
  • Train production and QC staff on quality requirements and problem‑solving tools.
What we’re looking for
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2‑5 years of experience in quality control or quality engineering in the aluminium die casting or metal industry.
  • Strong knowledge of die casting processes, casting defects, and quality inspection techniques.
  • Proficient in reading technical drawings and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 and familiarity with PPAP / APQP documentation is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to handle direct technical discussions with customers and external vendors.
