About the Job
As a Controlling Operations, M&S Senior Financial Analyst (Opex), you will play a critical role in strengthening operational expense governance across Manufacturing & Supply. Part of the Opex Center of Excellence within Finance Operations & Transformation, this role drives standardization, accuracy, and transparency in personnel and project cost management, while supporting business leaders with reliable insights for decision‑making.

By delivering lean processes, robust controls, and advanced analytics, we enable Finance Business Partners to focus on value creation, resource allocation, and long‑term performance across Industrial Affairs.
Main Responsibilities
Opex & Headcount Management
- Monitor and analyze monthly headcount against budget and forecast, including vacancy rates and key cost drivers.
- Manage country‑level personnel cost assumptions, including salary and fringe benefit impacts.
- Track and document all assumptions embedded in budgets and forecasts.
Financial Closing & Controls
- Deliver accurate and timely month‑end and quarter‑end close activities (accruals, journals, headcount tracking).
- Ensure compliance with internal control frameworks, including SOX requirements.
- Educate budget owners and stakeholders on financial policies, processes, and governance standards.
Analytics & Reporting
- Develop and maintain standardized Opex and headcount dashboards and scorecards.
- Provide trend analysis and insights to support forecasting accuracy and cost optimization initiatives.
- Work across multiple ERP and reporting tools (e.g., Oracle, iShift, Boost).
Transformation & Ways of Working
- Design and implement improved ways of working with GBU Controllers, Finance Business Partners, and transversal Opex teams.
- Challenge legacy processes, identify gaps, and drive best‑practice adoption across regions.
- Support key finance transformation initiatives, including SMART Spend and continuous improvement programs.
- Enhance the business partner experience by shifting focus from transactional support to value creation.
About You
Experience
- Significant experience in finance controlling or finance operations within a complex, matrixed environment.
- Proven background in Opex, personnel cost management, budgeting, and forecasting.
Core Skills & Capabilities
- Strong analytical mindset with attention to detail and ability to translate data into insights.
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and support business decision‑making.
- Effective change management skills, with experience operating in transformation environments.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.
- Confident communicator with the ability to work across international and cross‑functional teams.
- High level of integrity, risk awareness, and internal control mindset.
Technical & Digital
- Comfortable working across multiple finance systems and tools; agile learner of new platforms.
- Solid understanding of finance processes, controls, and enterprise systems (e.g., SAGA).
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
Preferred
- MBA and/or CPA qualification.
- Experience in pharmaceutical, industrial, or public accounting environments.
- Exposure to Commercial Finance, Gross‑to‑Net, TM1, or SAP.
