Job summary

A construction management firm in Kuala Lumpur is looking for a seasoned contract manager to oversee and administer construction contracts. You will ensure compliance with contractual terms and provide advice to project teams while managing variations and claims. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and at least 10 years of experience in commercial management. Strong negotiation and communication skills are essential, as well as proficiency in contract management systems.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in construction contract and commercial management.
  • Proven experience in variations, claims, EOTs and final accounts.
  • Good understanding of construction law and dispute resolution.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and administer construction contracts to ensure compliance with all contractual terms and conditions.
  • Prepare, evaluate, and respond to contractual claims and support dispute avoidance and resolution processes.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and subcontractors on contractual matters.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and administer construction contracts to ensure compliance with all contractual terms and conditions.
  • Interpret contract provisions and provide contractual advice to project teams.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and administer main contracts, subcontracts, and supplier agreements.
  • Maintain proper contract documentation, correspondence, registers, and key contractual dates.
  • Manage variations, change orders, claims, and counterclaims in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Ensure timely issuance of contractual notices and assess entitlements to extensions of time and additional costs.
  • Monitor commercial and financial matters including interim payments, cash flow, final accounts, and contractual securities.
  • Identify contractual, commercial, and financial risks and recommend mitigation measures.
  • Prepare, evaluate, and respond to contractual claims and support dispute avoidance and resolution processes.
  • Liaise with clients, consultants, subcontractors, legal advisors, and internal stakeholders on contractual matters.
  • Participate in project meetings and prepare reports on contract status, risks, claims, and commercial issues.
  • Support pre-contract activities, subcontract administration, contract handover, and project close-out obligations.
  • Any other duties and assigned by the superior.
