Job summary

A healthcare organization in Malaysia is looking for a Biomedical Engineer responsible for the maintenance and servicing of medical equipment. This role involves providing preventive measures, troubleshooting, and conducting technical assessments to ensure equipment efficiency. Candidates should possess a degree in Biomedical field or a relevant area. The position requires coordination with vendors and the creation of maintenance schedules, ensuring all equipment complies with manufacturer standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide preventive maintenance and corrective measures for all medical equipment in the hospital.
• Provide maintenance service for all equipment available in the facility.
• Provide technical feedback and troubleshooting for all equipment at the facility.
• Maintenance and servicing including authorize repair and calibration for all equipment.
• Develop and conduct a detailed inventory and maintain the equipment database available in the hospital.
• Carry out technical assessment of all equipment and inspection of operating condition.
• Estimate maintenance budget for a 3-6 month period, including replacement parts.
• Handle all equipment acceptance testing and commissioning, including end-user training.
• Communicate and coordinate any works carried out by vendors or contractors.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Provide preventive maintenance and corrective measures for all medical equipment in the hospital.
• Provide maintenance service for all equipment available in the facility.
• Provide technical feedback and troubleshooting for all equipment at the facility.
• Maintenance and servicing including authorize repair and calibration for all equipment with electronic devices, anaesthesia equipment, patient monitoring equipment and oxygen therapy system (repairs and calibration shall be in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations).
• Develop and conduct a detailed inventory and maintain the equipment database available in the hospital.
• Carry out technical assessment of all equipment, inspection of operating condition, protocols and preventive maintenance requirements for all devices.
• Estimate maintenance budget for a 3-6 month period, including replacement parts.
• Handle all equipment acceptance testing and commissioning, including entry into the central medical equipment database, end-user training and installation.
• Communicate and coordinate any works carried out by vendors or outside contractors.

Reporting

• Create pre-scheduled maintenance for all equipment in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendations.
• Create labeling system for notification of next service interval.
• Monthly report on breakdown calls and machine breakdown.
• Keep data, records and history of each equipment performance and history.
• Forward proposal to improve machine efficiency.
• Engineer to provide full recommendation for BER if situation arises.
