Job summary

A central bank in Kuala Lumpur is seeking to hire an individual with expertise in macroeconomic forecasting and analysis. The successful candidate will develop and implement forecasting frameworks, conduct scenario analyses, and provide technical guidance on econometric practices. A strong academic background in Economics or related fields, along with 2–3 years of relevant experience, is preferred. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to critical economic assessments and support knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Job description
  • Develop and implement a macro-frame forecasting framework that integrates sectoral and aggregate perspectives, ensuring consistency with macroeconomic narratives.
  • Support the development and refinement of macro-frame forecasting models and bottom-up tools, ensuring consistency with sectoral forecasts and macroeconomic narratives.
  • Assist in scenario analysis and simulations to evaluate the impact of external shocks and domestic policy changes on Malaysia’s macroeconomic outlook.
  • Provide technical guidance on econometric forecasting and structured evaluation of forecast performance to strengthen analytical rigor.
  • Participate in capacity-building initiatives by supporting workshops and contributing to knowledge‑sharing efforts within the team.
  • Prepare inputs for communication materials (working papers, reports, publications) to articulate macroeconomic assessments for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform administrative tasks to ensure smooth operations and business continuity.
Academic Qualifications
  • First Degree in Economics (preferred), Econometrics, Mathematics, or related field. Master’s in Economics/Econometrics is an advantage.
Experience
  • 2–3 years in macroeconomic analysis, forecasting, or policy research preferred.
