Assistant Manager, Sustainability Office

Position Title: Assistant Manager, Sustainability Office

Reporting To: Head, Sustainability Office

Position Summary

This position is responsible to execute sustainability agenda for the Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG). This includes spearheading the development and driving the execution of strategic Environmental, Social, & Governance (ESG) initiatives across all divisions, ensuring alignment with clear Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and targets outlined in the MAG Sustainability Strategic Framework. The incumbent will play a critical role in advancing the group's net‑zero carbon emissions goal by overseeing key ESG programs and managing crucial internal and external stakeholder engagements to ensure the successful implementation and reporting of MAG's sustainability performance.

Key Accountability
  • Lead the execution and continuous improvement of the Group's corporate sustainability strategy, ensuring alignment with global best practices and the Net‑Zero Carbon Emissions by 2050 goal.
  • Design and implement the Group’s decarbonization roadmap, focusing on key initiatives like operational efficiency, fleet technology adoption, use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), and effective use of market‑based measures.
  • Develop and manage all core climate action programs, including regulatory compliance reporting, facility management sustainability, the voluntary carbon offset program, and the plastic transition plan.
  • Set specific, data‑driven sustainability goals and targets and track progress across all ESG pillars (Environmental, Social, and Governance).
  • Support the execution of Social and Governance programs, specifically addressing Climate Risk management (transition, physical, and liability risks), carbon trading mechanisms, sustainable supply chain practices, and circular economy initiatives.
  • Ensure full compliance with all ESG‑related regulatory and internal reporting requirements.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement and partnership activities with NGOs, government bodies, and corporate partners to advance sustainability objectives.
  • Oversee and support the development of the annual MAG Sustainability Report, ensuring the content is transparent, accurate, and adheres to international reporting standards (e.g., GRI, TCFD, ISSB).
  • Provide critical support to the Finance Division in developing the Group's sustainable finance strategy, which includes climate risk management and relevant disclosure requirements.
  • Track, monitor, and report on the progress of all sustainability initiatives across group functions and business units to the senior management team.
  • Execute internal and external capacity‑building initiatives, including promoting sustainability awareness, conducting training, and engaging employees across all levels of the organization.
  • Support the marketing and communication of ESG‑related achievements to internal and external stakeholders across all group channels.
  • Manage consultation and syndication processes with senior leadership teams, ensuring effective follow‑through on all strategic discussions.
Qualifications and Working Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science / Economics / Business Administration or a relevant discipline
  • Certification in any ESG related field would be an added advantage
  • At least 4 to 6 years of relevant working experience in managing GHG, fuel data analysis, regulatory reporting, and project management
