Job Summary

UCSI Schools is seeking a dedicated and passionate Arts Teacher to inspire students through creative, expressive, and skill-building lessons. The successful candidate will deliver engaging instruction that develops students’ artistic techniques, visual literacy, and creative thinking, while fostering a supportive environment that encourages innovation and personal expression within an internationally-minded school community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons in Visual Arts (Lower and/or Upper Secondary) aligned with the school’s curriculum framework (e.g., Cambridge IGCSE, national curriculum, or equivalent).
  • Teach core art areas such as drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, digital art, and art history.
  • Design and implement comprehensive lesson plans, teaching materials, and assessments that promote creativity, critical thinking, and practical application.
  • Foster a student-centered, project-based, and inquiry-driven learning environment.
  • Guide students through the creative process: research, ideation, experimentation, creation, and reflection.
  • Ensure safe use of art materials, tools, and facilities in accordance with health and safety standards.
  • Integrate traditional and digital art techniques, including the use of educational technology and design software where appropriate.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, provide constructive feedback, and differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure curriculum coherence, share best practices, and support interdisciplinary learning, particularly in the arts and humanities.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance, prepare progress reports, and communicate proactively with parents and guardians.
  • Promote a positive classroom culture that supports creativity, responsibility, collaboration, and academic excellence.
  • Participate actively in school events, exhibitions, competitions, co-curricular activities, and professional development programs.
  • Uphold the school’s mission, values, and commitment to holistic education.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, Visual Arts, or a related discipline.
  • Recognised teaching qualification (e.g., Diploma in Education, B.Ed, PGCE, or equivalent).
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience in Visual Arts at the secondary school level.
  • Strong knowledge of various art techniques, media, and art history.
  • Good classroom management, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to motivate and engage students of varying abilities and cultural backgrounds.
  • Experience with international curricula (e.g., Cambridge IGCSE Visual Arts) is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in educational technology and digital art software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Teams, Google Classroom).
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and innovation in teaching and learning.
  • Experience in international or multicultural school environments.
  • Strong analytical, creative, and problem‑solving skills.
