Major Function:

Plan, coordinate and schedule the purchasing, production and inventory control (PC&L) of material required for manufacturing or sale. Responsible for executing product/processing outsourcing projects and other tactical activities as assigned. Act as company’s key interface with individual suppliers and production floor in support of day to day operations. Manages the relationship with the assigned suppliers to achieve the company’s business objectives.

Main Responsibilities:

Plan the purchasing of assigned material and issue orders specifying all terms and conditions. Monitor the delivery of all items and keep order dates accurate in the system by monitoring reports to react to past due supply chain orders; reschedule messages and realignment of orders. Maintain accurate data within planning system to ensure proper functionality. Review Planning Tool daily to ensure quick feedback on all delayed items and manage expedites accordingly. Utilizes ERP to ensure material availability in support of the production schedule

Places initial purchase orders from approved requisitions. Expedites/Defers to ensure product availability per the inventory plan. Sets and maintains purchasing and planning ERP order parameters.

Establish and maintain professional and ethical working relationships with suppliers (Internal and External) and work closely with them to ensure good communication and up-to-date data alignment regarding MOQ’s and Lead times for assigned materials. Set up automated subscriptions for suppliers to receive forecasts, open order and/or min max reports and delivery performance reports where requested and/or required. Evaluate past performance record regarding price, capacity, quality, and delivery of known sources against purchasing requirements.

Prepare requests for proposals, solicit quotations, evaluate bids, negotiate price and terms with suppliers in support of company objectives. Select suppliers based on total cost of ownership including quality and delivery performance. Renewal of local frame agreements and tool management. Assist in supplier management including risk management, commodity strategy, inventory management, problem resolution, claims management, charge-back management. Manage supplier changes.

Partner with USDC Supply Chain Manager and Procurement on special projects related to supplier scorecards, delivery performance, lead-time reduction and cost savings initiatives. Execute strategies and tactics to achieve best total cost in regard to pricing, logistics, Inventory and product lifecycle management, revisions, and E&O cost.

Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (Preferred)

Skills:

Knowledge of Master Scheduling, Planning, and Purchasing practices and supplier management

Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple projects

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Able to interact with all functional areas and all organizational levels

Able to represent the company to suppliers at all levels of management

Able to manage internal and external supplier relationships

Familiarity with engineering drawings

Keen understanding of a manufacturing environment

Collaboration, strategic planning and change management skills in a cross functional business team environment

Must be able to analyze problems and develop improvement plans

Working conditions: Requires some travel, including international travel.

Must have:

Experience with databases and pulling together reports a.:

Microsoft Windows, Word, Advanced Excel experience, and PowerPoint.

SQL and SAP experience preferred
