Under limited supervision, responsible for assisting the investigation of component, manufacturing, and field return issues through prompt, aggressive root cause analysis and effective corrective actions.

1. Understand how to safely work with hazardous chemicals, LN2, epoxies, acrylics, etc.
2. Operate a variety of specialized Failure Analysis equipment.
3. Perform a variety of specialized Failure Analysis techniques.
4. Ability to perform SMT and Thru-hole rework and master specialized solder processes like BGA reballing.
5. Continually develop/master grinding and polishing skills.
6. Contribute to the flow, management, and disposition of MRB material.
7. Diagnose and repair to component level on electronic circuit board assemblies while maintaining minimal quantities of Engineering and Component hold assemblies.
8. Monitor components reject levels and respond to issues accordingly.
9. Report technical information concerning component and manufacturing failures to Failure Analysis Engineer.
10. Assist in implementing proactive measures that will foster productivity and higher product yields while reducing economic loss.
11. Assist engineer in responding to production line problems immediately and addressing boards on component hold.
12. Monitor the storage and handling of moisture sensitive components, shock sensitive devices, and fiber optic components.
13. Understand and utilize assembly documentation such as schematics, BOMs, EC documents, visuals, debug, testing tools, and procedures.
14. Assist Test Engineering department in data evaluation for improving diagnosis efficiency.
15. Work on complex technical assignments requiring judgment, logical thinking, and initiative.
16. Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations.
17. Follow all procedures within the company security policy.
18. Perform other duties as assigned.

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and datasheets.
• Ability to write reports and procedure manuals.
• Effective presentation and communication skills with engineering departments.
• Proficiency with mathematical concepts, including probability and statistical inference.
• Ability to interpret technical instructions and diagrams, and deal with variables.
• Proficiency with PC and software packages.
• Ability to read and understand visual aids and simple instructions.
• Mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and graph interpretation.

• Understanding of analog and digital electronic circuits, communication protocols.
• Ability to perform functional testing and precise measurements.
• Application of deductive and inductive fault analysis methods.
• Experience in electronics diagnosis is desirable.
