The Controls Engineering Manager is a key leadership role responsible for the successful execution of controls engineering projects within IGS Project Engineering. Reporting to the Sr. Director of HTS MX, the Engineering Manager will oversee a team of engineers and ensure the timely delivery of high-quality engineering deliverables that meet customer expectations. This role will also play a crucial role in driving cost efficiency, implementing the right tools and processes, and supporting the achievement of business results and KPIs.

Major areas of responsibilities

  1. Supports IGS Project Engineering Organization and establishes professional relationships and communications with Managers, Program Managers, Operational leaders, Project Engineering discipline leaders and C&E team leaders, for project execution, special assignments, and key initiatives, as required.
  2. Ensure common methods, procedures, techniques, tools, and products, as established by the global Controls (SW & PLC) Engineering Teams, are being effectively applied and provide feedback for future improvement. Ensures talent acquisition, talent deployment, training plans & knowledge transfer within the controls engineering group and ensures processes & procedures are updated with lessons learned on regular basis.
  3. Provides day-to-day consultation, leadership, and direction to the Software & PLC engineering group of supervisors, leads and engineers. Supports/assigns Engineering supervisors to projects/initiatives and manages day-to-day resource conflicts. Also encourages by example and coaches, a highly professional approach to all other engineering activities.
  4. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize engineering processes, tools, and methodologies, with a focus on efficiency and quality.
  5. Drives billability, project cost forecast accuracy, monitors engineering hours & financials to ensure projects assigned are completed within agreed engineering cost budget, any EAC changes due to engineering are logged in CORA and have been approved before the EAC variance is shown in the forecast.
  6. Ensures all deliverables are submitted on-time and within budget, to stakeholders and customers. Escalates internal/external risks and work closely with local Management, Supervisors and Leads for possible mitigation.
  7. Monitor and track project progress, identifying and addressing any potential risks or issues that may impact project delivery or customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  2. Proven experience in software/PLC engineering, with a focus on project management and team leadership.
  3. Strong technical background and understanding of software development methodologies, tools, and technologies.
  4. Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  5. Demonstrated ability to drive results and meet project deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  6. Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze complex situations and develop effective solutions.
  7. Experience in the Material Handling industry or a similar field is highly desirable.
  8. Project management certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus.
