The Vice President of Live Events and Studio – Mexico will lead the creative development and strategic planning of live events and studio shows produced in Mexico, for both ESPN Mexico and ESPN Deportes. This leader will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of content, strong budget performance, and increased market share.

They will guide a large team of producers and professionals, set the creative vision for ESPN’s programming, and collaborate with audience research to develop strategies that increase Time Spent Viewing. They will also manage on‑air talent, oversee production standards, and work closely with senior leadership to secure resources and drive results.

The VP, Production ESPN Will Be Responsible For
  • Lead and manage a diverse team of producers and professionals across full‑time, temporary, and matrixed structures.
  • Define and communicate the creative vision for ESPN Mexico and ESPN Deportes.
  • Approve content and production budgets for all soccer‑related programming.
  • Oversee production scheduling and talent assignments.
  • Collaborate with audience research to drive Time Spent Viewing.
  • Manage on‑air talent, provide developmental feedback, and identify new talent.
  • Ensure the highest journalistic and professional standards across all productions.
  • Shape content strategy to maximize reach, ratings, and financial performance.
  • Apply deep knowledge of leagues, national teams, and tournaments to guide programming.
  • Make or review decisions on creative, content, production, and cost‑benefit matters.
  • Participate in key HR decisions including hiring, promotion, and compensation.
  • Represent ESPN’s ethical, legal, and financial standards in all communications.
  • Collaborate with senior management on resource allocation and strategic planning.
What we need from you to be part of this story:
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or equivalent.
  • 10+ years of experience in complex sports production.
  • Understanding of ESPN’s market positioning and strategy (is a plus).
  • Expertise in live event formats (full truck, REMI, augmented feeds).
  • Deep knowledge of major sports, leagues, and tournaments (Mexico, US, global).
  • Proven leadership in global sports markets, especially Latin America.
  • Collaborative, solution‑oriented, and adaptable leadership style.
  • Mastery of studio and live production processes.
  • Strong editorial judgment and storytelling instincts.
  • Positive attitude and conflict resolution skills.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish required.
