The Body D&R Engineer will be responsible for the engineering, design, development, timing, and production release of systems such as Body-in-white, Body closure sheet metal and hinging, Fascia/bumper, Underbody shield and Wheel liners, Cladding & flares, Body exterior (moldings, badges, decals, vents), Front Lighting, EE & Signal Lighting, Fixed Glass/Wipers, Fuel Door components, from initial design concept through full volume production.
Responsibilities include interfacing and coordinating packaging with the product design office, vehicle development, other Exterior and Body Engineering teams, all adjacent departments (electromechanical, electrical, lighting, trim), and suppliers to design, develop, and release these components/systems.
The Engineer will provide feasibility input for development of designs based on Product Design Office (PDO) concepts, sketches, and clay models. Other responsibilities include quality improvements, weight reduction, cost reduction, and efficiency initiatives, including communicating technical product status to management.
Additional duties involve developing functional objectives, building objectives, DVP&R, DFMEA, managing production suppliers to meet all requirements, and releasing completed geometry using NX Teamcenter CAD tools.
