Hearsay is looking for a passionate and experienced

• Senior Software Engineer
• to lead the development and execution of our Design System on the Web Platform Team.

This is a high-impact, highly visible role focused on rebuilding and evolving our design system to meet the growing needs of our product and engineering teams.

We are looking for someone to work closely with dedicated designers and peer engineers to build components and patterns that are accessible, performant, and visually cohesive.

This is a distributed team, so being comfortable collaborating in a remote environment is important.

What You’ll Do

• Drive the end-to-end engineering efforts of the Design System.
• Collaborate closely with design to align on UI patterns, accessibility standards, and component behavior.
• Lead the rewriting of foundational components to match the design kit.
• Define best practices when developing in or with the Design System.
• Standardize and modernize the build and release pipeline.
• Write and maintain clear, accessible documentation and changelogs to improve adoption and easy migration.
• Participate in roadmap planning to prioritize work.
• Help write, refine, and manage tickets for upcoming features and improvements.
• Triage incoming bugs and feature requests, determine priority and scope, and communicate timelines.
• Share your opinions on architectural and implementation choices.
• Work closely with other engineers to mentor, review code, and share knowledge around frontend best practices and design system usage.

What You Have

• 4+ years experience building front-end systems using modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, Svelte).
• Deep expertise in component architecture and bundling strategies (Webpack, Rollup, Parcel).
• Willingness to take on large-scale frontend infrastructure initiatives with the help of your peers.
• Strong communicator and cross-functional collaborator.
• Proactive, self-directed, and comfortable working in ambiguity.
