This role can be based in Argentina as well. Velafi is scaling rapidly across LATAM with a remote‑first, cross‑cultural team.
This role exists to ensure that people growth keeps pace with business growth — not just legally, but culturally and operationally. You will be part of the core HR team, not a local admin function.
Responsibilities
- Talent & Hiring (Global process, local execution) – Actively participate in end‑to‑end hiring: role definition with managers, interviews & candidate assessment, local market insights on compensation & talent availability. Bring local hiring intelligence into global talent discussions and help improve hiring quality, not just fill seats.
- Culture & Employee Experience – Be a culture carrier, not a policy messenger. Help translate company values into day‑to‑day behaviors. Support engagement, feedback cycles, and retention initiatives. Surface people issues early before they become problems.
- Learning, Development & Performance – Support performance review cycles and goal‑setting. Help managers give feedback and grow as leaders. Contribute to training programs (onboarding, manager training, soft skills).
- Local Compliance & People Operations – Own local employment compliance and labor law execution. Manage payroll, benefits, contracts, and employment changes. Advise leadership on local risk & best practices. Coordinate with external legal and payroll vendors.
What we are looking for
- 5+ years HR experience, ideally as HRBP or Generalist
- Fluent in both English and Spanish
- Moderate understanding of local labor law (MX or AR)
- Experience in fast‑growing, cross‑border or remote teams
- Business‑oriented mindset; understands commercial & ops realities
- Comfortable working in English with global stakeholders
- Hands‑on, proactive, and pragmatic
What will make you successful here
- You don't wait for perfect processes — you help build them
- You think in terms of business outcomes, not HR checklists
- You can balance local realities with global standards
- You want to grow into a regional or global HR role
Not a good fit if you
- Prefer purely administrative or payroll‑focused roles
- Are uncomfortable with ambiguity or change
- Expect a fully built HR system on day one
- Avoid challenging managers when needed
