In line with this growth, the PE Europe South team is seeking a new Technical Team Lead PE Italy to support our growth in the Italian market.
As Technical Team Lead PE Italy, you will be responsible for the engineering and technical aspects of onshore wind, solar PV, and hybrid projects, with a focus on plant optimization and maintaining a technical advantage in the market. You will lead an integrated team responsible for region-specific project engineering from project initiation to COD.
PE Italy is part of the PE Europe South cluster, which includes Greece, Italy, and Spain. The team will support and collaborate with the rest of the cluster, requiring alignment on priorities and resources with the Head of PE South, based on project lists, activities, and timelines from stakeholders such as Development and Construction.
The scope of work includes onshore wind, solar PV, and hybrid systems.
Your Tasks
- Lead a multidisciplinary engineering team to deliver design engineering for development and construction projects, focusing on optimization across the project lifecycle. Responsibilities include:
- Preparing, reviewing, and aligning concept and basic engineering for BoP (Geotech, access, reticulation, grid connection, electrical infrastructure), partly in-house and partly with external providers;
- Preparing and reviewing execution BoP designs, reports, specifications, and drawings to ensure compliance with standards and project requirements;
- Conducting internal noise assessments and reviewing contractor results;
- Designing, implementing, and monitoring wind measurements;
- Evaluating wind turbine loads, estimating lifetimes, and reviewing OEM results;
- Optimizing layouts for wind, solar, and hybrid projects, including energy yield calculations;
- Supporting regulatory and permit applications, providing design input;
- Assisting in technical due diligence of supplier products, prequalification, tendering, and procurement processes, collaborating with procurement on supply chain strategies;
- Supporting technical due diligence for projects, reviewing risks, and making technical and commercial recommendations;
- Ensuring project execution aligns with technical contracts and resolving issues of non-compliance;
- Identifying new engineering service providers, benchmarking, pre-qualifying, and selecting external partners;
- Making make-or-buy decisions related to engineering services, ensuring quality of external work;
- Collaborating with internal departments and global engineering communities to ensure engineering delivery meets portfolio needs, promoting continuous improvement;
- Incorporating environmental, health, and safety considerations into all design aspects.
Your Profile
- University degree in electrical, civil, mechanical, industrial engineering, or similar;
- Several years of relevant experience in project engineering within renewables;
- Strong commercial judgment and ability to solve complex technical issues;
- Good knowledge of Italian and international standards;
- Strong commitment to HSE principles;
- Willingness to travel internationally;
- Excellent communication skills in Italian and English (spoken and written);
- Leadership skills: ability to lead, inspire, manage, delegate, and manage change;
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize effectively.
