The Lead Testing Mechanical Instrumentation Design Engineer will be focused on the following activities:
- Design of modification machining of turbomachinery parts for special instrumentation in cooperation with Machine Design HW Engineers
- Design of special instrumentation of turbomachinery parts and connections routing in prototypes assemblies
- Design of special tooling for instrumentation application on mechanical parts assemblies and prototypes and relevant lifting methods
- Coordinate and support outsourced engineering work, monitor their quality (FTY), timing (OTD) and productivity
- Manage and control drawings and specifications
- Issue instrumentation and assembly instructions and checklists
- Support instrumentation installation and prototypes assembly
- Maintain synergies with Machine Design Engineers and proactively interact with internal Controlled Titles to prepare technical reviews
- Actively support conceptual and detailed design reviews
- During the day to day working activities, the Lead Engineer - Testing Mechanical Design will be in touch and work in concurrent engineering with:
- Test Project Engineering and Electric & Instrumentation Design teams to evaluate design and boundary conditions requirements and measurement systems selection
- Machine Design team to assess and review proposed machine parts modifications for instrumentation application and routing
- Sourcing team to align purchased products, systems and services to technical specs
- Workshop Testing Operations team to support installation/operation, preserving ergonomics and safety aspects.
Fuel your passion
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Bachelor degree from an accredited university or college or a high school diploma/GED with at least 10 years of experience in Engineering.
- At least 10 years of experience in turbomachinery mechanical instrumentation design.
- Familiar with instrumentation and transducers technologies applied to turbomachine
- Ability to define manufacturability of machinery parts and the consequent indications and features (dimensions & tolerances) to be applied to fabrication drawings
- High expertise in 2D (Autocad) and 3D CAD tools (Unigraphics NX or similar)
- Basic knowledge of PED, CPR, Machinery, ATEX directives and relevant applicable regulations/standards
