Job description

Prefect is focused on making complex systems easy to trust, and has emerged as the next-generation workflow orchestration platform, with a pythonic, developer-first approach.

Our remote first company is singularly focused on this vision, and every team member directly contributes to its advancement. Every role solves a problem, and everyone can see exactly how their work helps achieve our mission.

To that end, we've carefully created a supportive, high-performance culture - the operating system of our company - that empowers our team to do the best work of their careers and achieve their personal and professional aspirations.

The company operates both open-source and commercial offerings, orchestrating mission critical workflows for Fortune 500 companies, data innovators, and rising startups. We are looking for folks who want to join a remote-first team #LI-Remote to continue building an equally amazing company, product, and developer community.

Role Summary:

As a Solutions Engineer (EMEA / UTC ± 3), you will be a primary contact with our customers. You will own the technical relationship and be responsible for their success. You will find a balance of providing them with solutions using existing functionality and advocating on their behalf by supporting their use cases during our internal product planning sessions. You’ll unblock complex orchestration issues, ship reference implementations and best‑practice playbooks, and feed real‑world insights back to Product & Engineering. As our first Solutions Engineer in EMEA, you’ll have an opportunity to shape our international presence.

You will report to the Manager of Solutions Engineering, Rob.

What You'll Do:
  • Own post‑sales success – Serve as a primary technical advisor for a range of enterprise and growth customers, taking them from onboarding to resilient production on Prefect Cloud and other paid products.

  • Diagnose & unblock – Troubleshoot orchestration issues, provide architecture reviews and performance tuning to keep customer workflows healthy and scalable.

  • Participate in 24/7 on‑call rotation – Provide after‑hours incident response on a rotating schedule so our premium customers receive timely, high‑touch support.

  • Deliver enablement assets – Build reference implementations, run enablement sessions, and contribute to documentation that accelerates adoption.

  • Partner on renewals & expansions – Supply success metrics and technical context to CSM teams and occasionally join calls to ensure smooth renewals and identify growth opportunities.

  • Capture & amplify feedback – Translate field insights into concise product proposals and collaborate with Product/Engineering to influence the roadmap.

  • Measure what matters – Contribute to maintaining ≥ 95% SLA adherence rate with respect to first response time and resolution time.

Your Qualifications:
  • Customer‑facing engineering: 2 + years in a post‑sales Solutions Engineering, Customer Success Engineering, Support Engineering, or equivalent role.

  • Python proficiency: 2 + years writing and debugging production Python, ideally in data‑workflow or infrastructure contexts.

  • Cloud expertise: Hands‑on with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure) running containerized or serverless workloads.

  • Distributed‑systems troubleshooting: Demonstrated ability to diagnose orchestration and performance issues in production environments.

  • Workflow orchestrators: Practical experience with Prefect, Airflow, or similar tools.

  • Kubernetes & IaC: Familiarity with Kubernetes, Terraform, and modern CI/CD pipelines.

  • Timezone & on‑call: Available to work 09:00 – 18:00 CET (UTC ± 2) and participate in the 24/7 on‑call rotations.

  • Fluent English communicator: You write and speak English at a professional (C1+) level, enabling clear, empathetic collaboration with developers and executives.

Not sure you meet 100% of our qualifications? Please apply anyway!

What You'll Get in Return:

We take care of our team–our salaries are competitive and our benefits are high quality so that employees can work comfortably from wherever in the world they call home.

  • Competitive salary paid in local currency: $70,000 – $120,000 USD (or equivalent), adjusted for experience, skills, and cost‑of‑labor in your country (Ireland, UK, or elsewhere in EMEA). At this moment, we do not hire in France and the Netherlands.

  • Equity: Meaningful stock‑option grant aligned with our Series‑B stage.

  • Locally compliant benefits package: Statutory pension contributions, health coverage, and insurance aligned with legal requirements in your country, administered via our Employer‑of‑Record.

  • Paid time off: At least the statutory minimum vacation entitlement in your country.

  • Parental leave: No less than the statutory allowance in your jurisdiction, with company top‑ups wherever regulations permit.

  • Remote‑work stipend: $800 / month remote work stipend for whatever you need to work (food, wellness, equipment etc.).

  • Annual company offsite: Travel & lodging fully covered.
