About the job Senior Civil Structural Engineer

Position Summary

The Senior Civil & Structural Engineer / Supervisor will lead and oversee all civil and structural engineering activities for jetty construction, heavy workshops, fuel storage facilities, and coil engineering systems. This role requires strong design consultancy experience, the ability to review IFC designs, supervise site execution, ensure compliance with SNI and international standards, and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver EPCM projects safely, on time, and within budget.

The engineer will act as a key technical authority, providing guidance for structural design, construction methodology, and problem resolution across marine and onshore projects.

Key Responsibilities

Review, validate, and provide comments on all design documents, including:

  • Jetty and marine structures
  • Heavy workshop buildings
  • Fuel storage tank foundations and bunds
  • Coil engineering and mechanical supports

Ensure all designs comply with SNI, ACI, AISC, API 650/653, and marine engineering standards.

Prepare structural calculations, load assessments, and construction methodologies for critical works.

Provide engineering solutions for challenging site conditions, including soil settlement, tidal variations, and heavy equipment loading.

Project Supervision & Site Coordination

Lead the civil/structural team during construction and supervise all structural works.

Ensure that construction follows approved drawings, method statements, and QA/QC requirements.

Conduct daily site walk-downs, progress inspections, and coordinate corrective actions.

Coordinate closely with marine, mechanical, piping, electrical, and HSE teams.

Jetty & Marine Structure Expertise

Oversee installation of piles, fenders, bollards, berthing structures, and jetty decks.

Review bathymetry, geotechnical reports, tidal data, and ensure berthing safety requirements are met.

Verify alignment and positioning of jetty arms, dolphins, and approach trestles.

Workshop & Facility Construction

Supervise erection of steel structures, gantry beams, crane foundations, and equipment loads.

Ensure safe integration of MEP works with structural components.

Verify slab reinforcement, anchor bolts, and machine foundation tolerances.

Fuel Storage Tank Projects

Review and supervise civil works related to AST/UST fuel tanks, including:

  • Ring foundations, tank pads, and bund walls
  • Pipe racks and trenching
  • Firefighting and spill containment infrastructure

Ensure compliance with API and Pertamina standards.

Documentation, Quality & Compliance

Prepare technical reports, NCRs, RFI responses, and site instructions.

Validate contractor/consultant submissions including method statements, ITPs, bar bending schedules, and shop drawings.

Support project planning with BOQ verification, material estimation, and schedule inputs.

Act as the lead civil/structural authority for communications with clients, consultants, and regulatory bodies.

Mentor junior engineers and supervisors.

Participate in progress meetings, design reviews, and risk assessments.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering; Masters Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10+ years experience in marine structures, industrial buildings, and oil & fuel infrastructure.
  • Strong background in design consultancy and EPCM execution.
  • STAAD, SAP2000, ETABS
  • Strong understanding of geotechnical engineering, concrete design, steel design, and hydrodynamics.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale construction teams.
Preferred Experience
  • Jetty and port construction projects (up to 10,000 DWT vessels).
  • Fuel storage tank farms, pipeline foundations, and hazardous area civil works.
  • Heavy workshop and mechanical equipment foundations.
  • Coil engineering or heavy handling equipment installation.
