As the Director of Operations, you will oversee all operational departments, ensuring the hotel operates efficiently while maintaining the highest guest service standards. You will manage day-to-day operations, including front office, housekeeping, food and beverage, and other key departments. Your role will drive operational performance, optimize resources, and consistently meet guest satisfaction and financial objectives.
In this role, you will work closely with the General Manager, department heads, and the executive team to develop and implement strategies that enhance service delivery and operational efficiency. Your leadership and expertise will ensure all hotel functions work seamlessly to create a positive experience for guests and employees.
Here’s what you’ll do during a typical day:
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all operational departments (front office, housekeeping, food and beverage, engineering) to ensure efficient operations aligned with the hotel's goals.
- Collaborate with the General Manager to develop and implement operational strategies that drive performance and guest satisfaction.
- Oversee day-to-day hotel operations; ensure departments work cohesively to deliver an exceptional guest experience.
- Implement best practices and process improvements to optimize resources, reduce costs, and increase efficiency.
- Ensure guest interactions meet or exceed service standards; address guest concerns quickly and professionally.
- Monitor guest feedback and work with department heads to improve service quality and satisfaction.
- Manage departmental budgets with the finance team to control costs, maximize revenue, and meet financial targets.
- Analyze operational financial reports to identify profitability opportunities while preserving service quality.
- Lead, motivate, and develop department heads and teams; foster a positive work environment and engagement.
- Provide ongoing training and development for staff and promote continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with all department heads for seamless communication and smooth operations.
- Partner with sales, marketing, and revenue management to align operations with business objectives including occupancy optimization and guest experience.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards; conduct audits and implement corrective actions.
- Manage risk by following hotel policies, emergency protocols, and security measures.
- Prepare regular reports on operational performance, guest satisfaction, and financial metrics; present insights to senior leadership.
- Track KPIs to assess efficiency and support data-driven decisions.
What It Takes
- Proven experience in a senior operations management role within a hotel or hospitality environment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills; ability to drive performance and engagement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate across departments.
- In-depth knowledge of hotel operations (front office, housekeeping, F&B, engineering).
- Strong financial acumen with budgeting, forecasting, and cost control experience.
- Proficiency with hotel property management systems (PMS) and related software.
- Proficiency in English; additional languages are a plus.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
