Job Summary

An exciting and rewarding opportunity has arisen for a passionate and driven highly specialised vascular clinical scientist/physiologist to join our vascular team. We will consider applications from newly qualified vascular clinical scientist/physiologists and for part‑time hours.

We work a compressed week with four working days (8:00am to 6:00pm), providing an excellent work‑life balance. We are a small vascular department in modern, air‑conditioned facilities. We aim to provide off‑probe time to all sonographers to reduce MSK and support role expansion / CPD.

Qualifications
  • BSC in Clinical Physiology (2003 onwards) or equivalent (up to 2002) for state registration in Cardiology, Respiratory or Vascular
  • Training and experience at equivalent Masters level demonstrated by additional professional qualifications (e.g. BSE/BPEG/AVS) and additional substantial theoretical knowledge developments through appropriate study days and short courses, undertaking structured extended self‑study
  • State registration with RCCP
  • ILS/Defib certificate
  • Teaching certificate (C&G7303/ABC or equivalent)
Knowledge Requirements
  • Highly specialised expert knowledge and experience across a range of vascular procedures gained over significant time either post‑graduate (up to 2002) / state‑registered practice (2003 onwards)
  • Extensive practical experience in vascular at an independent practice level including investigation, interpretation, reporting, altering therapy and recommending alternative investigations. To be able to identify when emergency medical intervention is required and take appropriate action.
  • Evidence of professional awareness, CPD, and up‑to‑date knowledge through structured study, reflective practice and peer review. This includes epidemiology, pathology, diagnostic strategies, interpretation of investigations, management strategies and outcomes, contributing to clinical pathways.
  • Lead specialist in one area of diagnostics and procedures demonstrating highly specialised technical knowledge and first‑line management in this area.
  • Professional practice and research – history taking, psychology of disease, counselling skills, report writing, statistical and research methodology, critical appraisal of literature.
  • Ability to work as an autonomous practitioner holding their own caseload.
  • Excellent communication verbal and written skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills with an ability to demonstrate initiative, motivation and independent thinking.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to manage self effectively.
  • Ability to cope with decision making under pressure, leadership, meet deadlines, delegate effectively.
  • IT skills.
