A leading regional hospital in Launceston is seeking a Rehabilitation Physician to oversee a ward and establish outpatient rehabilitation services. This full-time position offers a salary range of $216,300 to $310,389 per annum plus benefits. The ideal candidate will have experience managing severe spasticity with botulinum toxin. This role is fixed-term from February 2026 to January 2027 with potential for extensions. Contributing to healthcare excellence in Tasmania, you will liaise closely with a dedicated medical team.
Launceston General Hospital (LGH) is Tasmania’s largest regional hospital. As the major clinical teaching and research centre in Northern Tasmania, LGH works closely with the University of Tasmania and other institutions. All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.
The LGH has two dedicated rehabilitation wards, each supported by junior medical staff and a passionate and highly skilled multi‑disciplinary team.
This role will work closely with the other physician working in rehabilitation to provide comprehensive inpatient, consulting and outpatient services.
This is an exciting new role in rehabilitation and will be primarily responsible for one of the rehabilitation wards as well as establishing medical outpatient rehabilitation services.
The applicant will be a rehabilitation physician, ideally with experience in managing severe spasticity with botulinum toxin.

Fixed term full time, day worker with on call, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing 2 February 2026 until 31 January 2027.

Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $216,300 - $310,389 per annum, pro rata + 12% superannuation+ access to salary packaging.
Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $300,216 -$310,389 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award.
