A leading academic institution in Edinburgh is seeking outstanding veterinary clinicians for its ECAT-i Programme, which offers a fully funded Wellcome PhD for Health Professionals. Successful candidates will engage in a combined clinical training and academic research, with opportunities for post-doctoral study. Ideal applicants should have high academic achievement and experience in clinical practice.
Grade UE08: £50,253 to £61,759 per annum

ECAT-i (Edinburgh Clinical Academic Track – inclusive) is the University of Edinburgh’s exciting academic track for all veterinary specialties.
We are now seeking to recruit up to two outstanding veterinary clinicians for the August 2026 intake.
ECAT-i offers an unparalleled opportunity to undertake a Wellcome PhD for Health Professionals, with combined clinical training and practice in a world-leading research centre at the University of Edinburgh. The programme aims to build on the principles of research excellence and mentorship developed during the successful ECAT Wellcome Clinical PhD programme, with a strong emphasis on research inclusivity and a positive research culture.
Candidates who have already undertaken a period of full-time research leading to a doctoral degree are not eligible for the ECAT programme but are welcome to make contact.
