A leading NHS trust is seeking an enthusiastic Radiologist for a full-time position. The role involves delivering diagnostic imaging services across multiple sites and participating in teaching and supervision of junior staff. A vacancy for enthusiastic Radiologist to develop their career in a department known for its friendly, harmonious and supportive environment. This is a substantive full-time appointment to support Imaging services across UHDB. The post is based at UHDB, mainly split between two major sites with acute care facilities (RDH and QHB). Following expansion of services through Community Diagnostic Centres, the Trust is appointing Consultant Radiologists across multiple sub-speciality interests, in General and Paediatric Imaging. The appointed candidate will work with a team of established specialist radiologists providing diagnostic imaging expertise in Radiology.
The University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust has 54 Consultant Radiologists (part and full time) and 18 Speciality Registrars on rotation from Nottingham and Leicester. The appointed consultant is expected to cover general reporting in addition to their sub-speciality work and participate on the diagnostic on call rota at the Royal Derby Hospital. The on-call work will be supported by a cross-site team of 12 reporting radiographers for plain film and MSK MRI.
The post attracts 10 PAs (8.5 DCC + 1.5 SPA). Part-time working arrangements will be considered. There is potential for additional PAs for dedicated medical student funded teaching. Most Consultants have a full-time job plan over 4 days with home reporting facilities to support work-life balance.
We are a large cross-site imaging department offering all imaging modalities with up-to-date scanners (10 MRI, 11 CT) at main sites and community diagnostic centres. Facilities include 5 fluoroscopy rooms (including 2 dedicated interventional suites and a hybrid theatre). The Trust Imaging Department also provides services at seven community hospitals throughout Derbyshire and East Staffordshire. Three sites will be designated as Community Diagnostic Centres with developments including new CT (routine and Cardiac), MRI, U/S training academy, DeXA and X-Ray.
