About your team:

At British Gas, our mission is to sell it and mend it.

We’ve powered UK homes and businesses for over 200 years. But supplying energy is just part of what we do. We’re making the UK greener and more energy efficient, moving closer to Net Zero. Using tech like thermostats, heat pumps, solar panels, and EV chargers, we’re making it cheaper and easier for customers to reduce their carbon footprint.

About your role:

This advert aims to inspire more females to pursue an engineering apprenticeship!

We aim to reach net zero by 2050 and recognize some customers prefer female engineers in their homes. That’s where you come in. Not your typical engineer? Good. This isn’t a typical job, and we’re not a typical energy company.

As an apprentice, you’ll gain skills by joining one of our engineering teams, such as Gas Service & Repair, Heating Installation, or Smart Metering (recruiting in most areas). We have various entry routes in 2025 and are excited to welcome new colleagues.

What we’re looking for:

• 4 GCSEs, including Maths & English at grade C/4 or above, or equivalent
• A passion for learning a trade, pursuing a successful career, and providing excellent customer service
• A full UK driving license with 6 points or less
• Availability to attend training at UK-wide academies, with accommodation and travel provided if needed

What’s in it for you:

• Starting salaries from £15,435 to £17,850, increasing with milestones
• Post-completion salary aligned with fully skilled engineers or electricians (duration varies)
• London Weighting Allowance from £4,000 to £6,000 depending on location
