The successful candidate will champion a culture of continuous improvement by deploying Lean methodologies, leading Kaizen initiatives, and driving innovation across production processes. You’ll be instrumental in shaping a smarter, safer, and more efficient future for rail manufacturing.

Functions and responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading Lean culture and Continuous Improvement initiatives on CAF Rolling Stock UK sites.
  • Implement TIER Accountability Process across Factory.
  • Promote a culture of operational excellence by anchoring and supporting implementation on the ground.
  • Pilot and support Kaizen projects using Lean tools to target and benefit from improvements.
  • Proactively identify improvement actions to deploy to increase operational performance.
  • Deploy Value stream Mapping process on a regular basis.
  • Deployment in the field (training + digitalization of tools) of first‑level continuous improvement methodologies (suggestions, ideas, kaizen, 5S, 5 whys, PDCA, A3, etc.).
  • Gemba.
  • Encourages, participates.
  • Conducts internal lean audits.
  • Proposes, structures and leads continuous improvement projects.
  • Ensures a strong presence in the departments and support to encourage creativity.
  • Conducts welcome training for new arrivals.
Training required
  • Proven experience or a degree in engineering.
  • Certified Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt.
  • Strong knowledge of Lean tools: 5S, VSM, SMED, PDCA, A3, Kaizen.
  • Leadership in CI projects and workshop facilitation.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and change management skills.
  • A proactive mindset with a passion for innovation and performance.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous learning.
