Thisis an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in improving safety,efficiency, and service user experience of the induction of labour process inour hospitals.

Youwill be part of a team providing 24/07 coverage of the service. You willcoordinate and oversee the induction of labour process, supporting serviceusers to make empowered choices about their care whilst also supportingcolleagues in delivering high-quality, evidence-based care, ensuring thesmooth and safe flow of service users through the service.

Keyresponsibilities include:

Actingas the primary point of contact for the coordination of induction of labour

Supportthe planning and scheduling of inductions, liaising with maternity, obstetricand ward teams to ensure timely care provision.

Provideexpert clinical support, advice and guidance to colleagues, service users andtheir families.

Monitorservice activity, identifying capacity pressures and escalatingappropriately.

Contributeto audit, quality improvement and service development initiatives.

Job Title: Patient Flow Coordinator

Reports to: Matron

Band: 7

Location Cross City

JOBPURPOSE/SUMMARY

Thepost holder will be responsible for flow of patients into and out from thematernity services. This will includethe daily management and booking of women requiring induction of labour andoversight of elective caesarean section bookings as well as women accessingthe maternity services through the acute pathway. They will work with theclinical teams to facilitate appropriate timely admission, transfer anddischarge of across the maternity pathways.

Thepost holder will need to have demonstrable knowledge skills and experience inmaternity services to facilitate and prioritise patient flow across theinpatient services. The post holder needs to work well in high pressuredsituations and be confident to communicate and collaborate with all levels ofthe multidisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of safe quality care.

Thepost holder will communicate the capacity and flow position to the seniorteams and escalate any issues that cannot be mitigated and need further inputto resolve.

• Registered Midwife
• Degree in Midwifery
• Masters Degree or Working towards Masters level qualification.

• Evidence of continuing professional education and development.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to be responsive to emotive conversations.
• Act as a role model demonstrating exemplary skills in maternity care.
• Flexible, highly motivated and supportive of others.
• Ability to develop excellent working relationships with all staff within the Trust and external partners.
• Strong organisational and planning skills
• Willing to develop new skills including completing appropriate training as required.

• Ability to adapt written and verbal communication skills to the audience.
• Ability to undertake a wide range of work procedures without direct supervision
• Ability to analyse data and produce required reports and information.
• Able to fulfil Occupational Health requirements for the post (with reasonable adjustments if necessary), including clearance on blood borne viruses in compliance with Trust Policy

• Experience in all aspects of maternity care.
• Demonstrable experience in developing self and others and changing practice.
• Recent demonstrable experience of supporting women and families
• Knowledge and experience of national patient safety agenda and NHS England and CQC priorities.
