Overview

Desktop Support Engineer (SC Cleared – On-Site Contract) Location: Warrington; Contract: January – April (approx. 4 months initial); Clearance: Active SC clearance and UK Nationality are mandatory

We are seeking an experienced Desktop Support Engineer to join a project with a major global technology services provider, supporting one of their key defence-sector clients. This role involves hands-on device deployment and user support within a secure environment.

About the Role

Working on-site at a secure facility in Warrington, you will support a large-scale laptop refresh and deployment programme. Approximately 200 Dell devices will be built, shipped, and supported during the project window. You will work closely with the client’s internal teams, delivering high-quality technical support in line with strict security requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Build and configure laptops using the client’s standardised image
  • Prepare and ship completed devices to end users across the organisation
  • Provide remote or on-site assistance for first-time login and basic user setup
  • Manage the intake and collation of returned devices
  • Maintain accurate records of device status and deployment progress
  • Ensure all work adheres to secure handling and clearance protocols
Required Skills & Experience
  • Active SC clearance (must be in place at application stage)
  • UK Nationality (due to the nature of the end-customer environment)
  • Previous experience in a Desktop Support Engineer or IT Field Support role
  • Strong knowledge of Windows 10/11 environments and imaging processes
  • Familiarity with Dell hardware (laptops/desktops)
  • Ability to work independently on-site and manage multiple workflows
  • Excellent communication and user-support skills
