Job summary
A leading engineering consultancy based in Newcastle upon Tyne is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to lead technical delivery of civil engineering services. This role involves managing projects, mentoring junior staff, and engaging with clients on critical infrastructure developments. Candidates should have a degree in Civil Engineering and at least five years of relevant experience, with expertise in tools like Civils3D and AutoCAD.
Qualifications
- A minimum of five years’ experience with aspiration for ICE Incorporated or Chartered status.
- PDS line and sign design experience would also be beneficial.
- Private sector experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Lead technical delivery of civil engineering consultancy services.
- Ensure projects are delivered within budget and to required quality standards.
- Engagement in client management and internal design team collaboration.

Are you a driven and experienced Civil Engineer with a passion for delivering high-quality infrastructure and drainage solutions? Our client is looking for a talented Senior Civil Engineer to join their Newcastle team. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to major developments, mentor junior staff, and work closely with clients.
- Leading day to day technical delivery of civil engineering consultancy services to support our clients through all stages of the project life cycle from feasibility and concept design through to planning, detailed design, and construction.
- Bringing expertise in drainage, SuDS, flood risk, highways, streetscape, earthworks, and utilities to all types of land, property and infrastructure development projects across all sectors and clients.
- Being active on several varied multi-disciplinary project/client accounts at any given time.
- You will be supported by a team of experienced and developing technical staff of various grades, to whom you will be expected to provide guidance and support as appropriate.
- Involvement in high profile client engagement, stakeholder management, design team collaboration (both internal and with other external multidisciplinary professionals), and project management
- Being responsible for, or actively engaged in, ensuring your projects are delivered within budget, on programme, and to the required quality for technical and legal compliance.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering
- PDS line and sign design experience would also be beneficial
- Flexible and enthusiastic approach to working within a team structure
- Good communication skills across disciplines
- Clean driving licence
- A minimum of five years’ experience with an aspiration to gain ICE Incorporated or Chartered status, with internal and external training support provided
- Candidates should have private sector experience and a working knowledge in the use of Civils3D, together with Microdrainage, AutoCAD and AutoTrack (vehicle swept path analysis) and Navisworks
