Job summary
A respected healthcare organization in Manchester seeks a dedicated individual to provide support within the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC). The role involves working with multi-agency partners to deliver essential support services to adults and children. Candidates should possess a good education standard and a counselling certificate, alongside excellent communication skills. The position requires flexibility in working hours, with some opportunity for hybrid work. Salary is competitive, from £27,485 to £30,162 per year, pro rata.

Location: Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, Saint Mary's Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC).
Working within Saint Mary's Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) you will provide support to the Independent Sexual Violence Adviser (ISVA) Team to deliver ISVA services across Greater Manchester. Undertake specific ISVA tasks as directed by the ISVA Team Lead and/or the SARC Senior management Team. You will offer support, advice and advocacy to adults, children and young people across Greater Manchester who are accessing SARC services.
- Work in partnership with multi‑agency partners, including criminal justice agencies, social care teams and forensic physicians.
- Provide telephone and face‑to‑face support within a non‑judgmental and confidential service environment.
- Make onward referrals to safeguarding, counselling, external agencies and other healthcare services following a detailed support needs & risk assessment.
- Understanding of issues relating to rape and sexual assault.
- Knowledge and experience of providing one‑to‑one support.
- Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System.
- Clear understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to respond appropriately.
- Understanding of diversity issues particularly in relation to SARC services.
- Experience of maintaining and providing accurate records and data.
- Experience of working with children, young people or adults in a support role capacity.
- Experience of working within Criminal Justice services.
- Experience of working within a health, social care or voluntary setting.
- Good standard of education.
- Certificate in Counselling.
- Ability to manage your own workload.
- Evidence of excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Flexibility in working hours to cover service delivery, may include some evenings.
- Ability to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service.
- Some hybrid work, where appropriate, to meet service demand.
