Job Description

Working within Saint Mary's Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) you will provide support to the Independent Sexual Violence Adviser (ISVA) Team to deliver ISVA services across Greater Manchester. Undertake specific ISVA tasks as directed by the ISVA Team Lead and/or the SARC Senior management Team. You will offer support, advice and advocacy to adults, children and young people across Greater Manchester who are accessing SARC services.

Responsibilities

• Work in partnership with multi‑agency partners, including criminal justice agencies, social care teams and forensic physicians.
• Provide telephone and face‑to‑face support within a non‑judgmental and confidential service environment.
• Make onward referrals to safeguarding, counselling, external agencies and other healthcare services following a detailed support needs & risk assessment.

Person Specification

Experience & Knowledge

• Understanding of issues relating to rape and sexual assault.
• Knowledge and experience of providing one‑to‑one support.
• Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System.
• Clear understanding of safeguarding issues and ability to respond appropriately.
• Understanding of diversity issues particularly in relation to SARC services.
• Experience of maintaining and providing accurate records and data.
• Experience of working with children, young people or adults in a support role capacity.
• Experience of working within Criminal Justice services.
• Experience of working within a health, social care or voluntary setting.

Education

• Good standard of education.
• Certificate in Counselling.

Skills & Abilities

• Ability to manage your own workload.
• Evidence of excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Work‑related circumstances

• Flexibility in working hours to cover service delivery, may include some evenings.
