• Assist patients to carry out personal care including meeting hygiene, nutrition and continence needs.
• Assist patients to mobilise where appropriate.
• Take and record temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, height and weight on instruction from the qualified nurse. Record the results appropriately and report any abnormalities to the nurse or nurse in charge.
• Test specimens and record the results.
• Under the supervision of the qualified nurse, support patients undergoing clinical procedures ensuring their comfort and safety.
• Restock departmental areas as required, reporting any shortages to the NiC/Ward Manager.
• Adhere to the policy for the Control of Infection.
• Maintain the confidentiality of information about patients, staff and other health service business.
• Participate in quality assurance programmes as required.
• Participate in the promotion of a positive learning environment and act as a role model at all times.
• Be aware of and contribute to Clinical Governance arrangements/issues for area of work.
