Bonus: Up to 100% of salary

Benefits: Car allowance, pension, private healthcare and associated executive benefits

The Opportunity

An established and growing UK specialist in kitchen and bathroom worktops is seeking an experienced Managing Director to lead the next phase of its development. Operating across two UK sites — a large flagship operation in Yorkshire and a smaller site in Enfield — the business employs circa 100 people and generates revenues in the region of £13-14 million.

The company purchases, fabricates and installs high-quality worktops, with a strong focus on kitchens, working predominantly with quartz, ceramic, marble, granite and analogous materials. Its customer base includes large national showroom chains, independent showrooms and kitchen architects, with a reputation built on quality, service and delivery capability.

This is a hands‑on, high‑impact leadership role with full accountability for commercial performance, operational execution and financial control.

The Role

Reporting to the Board, the Managing Director will have full responsibility for the leadership, performance and strategic direction of the business.

Key responsibilities
  • Full ownership of P&L, cash flow and balance sheet performance, supported by the Finance Controller
  • Leadership of the senior management team, with direct reports including the Sales Director, Finance Controller and Operations Director
  • Driving sales growth, margin improvement and customer penetration across all channels
  • Ensuring operational excellence across fabrication, installation and logistics
  • Developing and executing medium-term growth strategies while maintaining tight cost and cash discipline
  • Managing multi-site operations and ensuring alignment between Yorkshire and Enfield
  • Strengthening relationships with key customers, suppliers and strategic partners
  • Embedding a performance-driven, accountable and customer-focused culture
Candidate Profile

This role requires a proven Managing Director or senior commercial leader with deep understanding of the sector.

Essential experience
  • Previous senior leadership experience within the kitchen, bathroom, worktop, stone, surfaces or related fabrication/installation sector
  • Strong commercial and sales orientation — candidates from Sales Director backgrounds with significant operational and commercial responsibility are welcomed
  • Demonstrable experience managing P&L, cash flow and balance sheet
  • Track record of leading multi-site operations
  • Ability to operate credibly with a Board while remaining hands‑on with the business
Personal attributes
  • Commercially astute, decisive and resilient
