Company Description

Marie Curie is the UK’s leading end-of-life charity. We are the largest non-NHS provider of end-of-life care in the UK, the only provider across all 4 nations, delivering community nursing and hospice care across the country, while providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement. Our leading research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end-of-life, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone gets to have the best possible quality of life while living with an illness, they’re likely to die from.

Job Description

You’ll join Marie Curie’s Digital Learning team within People and Organisational Development on a fixed-term basis (12-month contract). The team works across the organisation to design and deliver high-quality learning for staff and volunteers, supporting everything from clinical practice and compliance to fundraising, leadership and professional development. It’s a collaborative, creative team that values innovation, accessibility and evidence-based learning design.

As Instructional Designer, you’ll create engaging, accessible learning content that equips people across Marie Curie with the skills and knowledge they need to do their best work. Your designs will support safer practice, stronger leadership and more effective ways of working - directly contributing to Marie Curie’s mission to ensure a better end-of-life experience for all.

Your impact:

  • Work with stakeholders and subject matter experts to understand learning needs and design effective learning solutions.
  • Design, develop and deploy high-quality digital learning, including eLearning, microlearning, videos, animations and performance support resources.
  • Quality-assure and maintain learning content to ensure it is accurate, inclusive, accessible and up to date.
  • Use learning analytics, evaluation data and feedback to improve content and demonstrate impact.
  • Champion accessibility and inclusive design across all learning materials.
  • Support the use of the learning management system and promote learning across the organisation.

Key Criteria:

  • Proven end-to-end instructional design experience, from needs analysis through to evaluation.
  • Strong technical skills using digital learning tools such as Articulate 360/Storyline, Adapt, Canva and animation tools (e.g. Vyond).
  • Knowledge of digital learning best practice, performance-based design and accessibility standards (e.g. WCAG).
  • Experience using a learning management system.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Collaborative, proactive approach with a commitment to continuous improvement and inclusive practice.
