Overview

This role supports GCSE RS Success : Empowering Non-Specialist Teachers in Wales, a professional development project designed to help teachers deliver high-quality GCSE Religious Studies (RS) who may not have a qualification in Religious Studies, Theology, Philosophy or Ethics, in line with the new GCSE (WJEC) which will be first taught in September 2025.

The Project

The project provides training, resources, and guidance to ensure that teachers feel confident and well-equipped to teach the new GCSE specification. The Administrative Assistant will play a key role in enabling smooth coordination of activities, supporting communications, and assisting with resource development.

Purpose of the Job

The Administrative Assistant (Project Coordination and Resource Development) will provide essential organisational and research support for the project, with a particular focus on coordinating activities, developing teaching resources, and maintaining clear communication with participating teachers and stakeholders. The role ensures that the project operates smoothly and achieves its objectives of improving non-specialist teacher confidence and quality in GCSE RS delivery.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The post-holder will :

  • Assist in researching and analysing best practices, curriculum developments, and pedagogical strategies relevant to GCSE Religious Studies.
  • Contribute to the creation, refinement, and quality assurance of teaching and learning resources, including workbooks, short video materials, and guidance documents.
  • Coordinate project activities and events such as online meetings, webinars, and teacher training sessions to support research dissemination and professional engagement.
  • Liaise with teachers, trainers, and education professionals to facilitate participation and sustain stakeholder engagement in the project.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate records of project activities, participant engagement, feedback, and progress to support monitoring and evaluation.
  • Prepare project documentation and outputs, including progress reports, meeting notes, and presentation materials for internal and external dissemination.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support to the research team, including data entry, document management, and correspondence with stakeholders.
  • Oversee updates and maintenance of project information across digital platforms such as shared drives, resource hubs, and online communication channels.
  • Support evaluation and impact assessment activities through the collection, organisation, and analysis of participant feedback and engagement data.

  • Undertake any other reasonable duties commensurate with the function and grade of the post as required by the Head of Service / Project Lead.
  • Adapt flexibly to evolving project priorities and timelines.
  • Provide occasional technical / logistical support during online training sessions or events.
  • The post holder will be expected to participate in performance review and developmental activities.
