Supporting your overall wellbeing with counselling, mental health support, life management, medical guidance, and helpful resources. Olivia is our friendly virtual assistant, available to support you navigate through the application process 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Whether it's late at night or over the weekend, she's on hand to answer your questions, guide you through the application process, or help you find what you need. Olivia can't make hiring decisions (those are always made by real human recruiters), but Olivia helps ensure your recruitment journey stays smooth and accessible anytime you need.
Olivia is designed to help streamline parts of the recruitment experience. She can answer common questions, guide candidates through application steps, arrange interviews and provide timely updates, all to help make the application process smoother and easier to navigate.
Before we can employ you, we are required to verify your eligibility to work in the UK & Ireland. Acceptable documents to evidence your right to work can be found here. You will need to provide original documents such as a valid passport or a valid UK/Ireland visa (with a college letter listing term dates, where applicable). Only original documents will be accepted.
The interview is a vital part of our hiring process. It helps us understand what kind of person you are and whether you would be a great fit at McDonald’s. The interview will normally involve questions around values and attitudes and will allow you to show why you are the right person for the job. For example, you may be asked to discuss times you've worked as part of a team and how you made a difference. We hire for qualities and potential, rather than qualifications, focusing on the right attitudes and behaviours to deliver a great customer and colleague experience.
Our employees tend to stay with us for reasons such as a fun, sociable and flexible work environment and opportunities to progress into roles with more responsibility. For example, a number of managers and franchisees started as crew members. We are recognised as a leading employer with learning opportunities, qualifications, benefits and flexible working arrangements, and a clear career path.
You'll be working in a fast-moving, high-energy environment. We look for a genuine smile and an ability to connect with customers and make them feel valued. Friendly, welcoming, courteous and helpful behaviour comes naturally, and effective communication skills are essential. We value a safe, respectful and inclusive workplace and live by our core values: Serve, Inclusion, Integrity, Community and Family.
If you are unable to make any interview slots offered in the recruitment process, you can contact Olivia to rearrange a suitable date. We are also pursuing sustainability initiatives and have launched net-zero restaurant projects. Pay frequency varies by franchise vs. company-operated locations, typically every 2 or 4 weeks for hourly staff and monthly for salaried staff. Shifts vary by location, with many restaurants open 24 hours; shifts are scheduled to suit you and business needs. Uniforms are provided, and there are opportunities for progression within the company. Age requirements will depend on local regulations.
* The salary benchmark is based on the target salaries of market leaders in their relevant sectors. It is intended to serve as a guide to help Premium Members assess open positions and to help in salary negotiations. The salary benchmark is not provided directly by the company, which could be significantly higher or lower.
