Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
We are recruiting on behalf of a respected specialist school in Tameside that offers a calm, structured, and supportive setting for children and young people aged 11-19. The school caters for pupils with Autism, ADHD, mild to severe learning disabilities, as well as a range of social, emotional, and mental health needs. Known for its inclusive culture and strong multi-disciplinary teamwork, the school delivers a personalised curriculum designed to support both academic progress and emotional wellbeing. With small class sizes, high staff-to-pupil ratios, and committed leadership, this role offers a genuinely fulfilling opportunity for professionals looking for stability and the chance to make a lasting difference.
Support pupils in the classroom, working 1:1 or with small groups
- Help deliver engaging lessons under the guidance of the class teacher
- Assist pupils with additional needs, promoting confidence, communication, and positive behaviour
- Provide encouragement and motivation – in class, during activities, or on the playground
- Act as a reliable adult role model, supporting pupils' social and emotional development
- Experience supporting or mentoring children or young people (school, youth work, sports coaching, volunteering or similar)
- Patient, approachable, and able to build positive relationships with pupils
- Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE Maths & English or equivalent)
- Calm under pressure with a positive outlook and sense of humour
- Committed to inclusion and helping every child succeed
- Hold Right to Work in the UK
- Hold (or be willing to apply for) an Enhanced Child Barred List DBS registered with the Update Service
- Provide two professional child-related references
