Personal Assistant Required for a 23 year old male with learning disabilities in the Leeds 6 Burley Area. The purpose of this role is to support the young man to access and attend appointments and meetings, and to access social activities around his interests.

About Me: I have diagnoses of Intellectual Disability, GDD, FASD, ADHD, and ASD, and health conditions including Crohn’s, Diabetes, and Depression. I am independent but sometimes struggle with social skills, time management, and processing information.

I enjoy chatting about steam trains, Dr Who, zombies, horror movies, the weather, and things I’ve seen on YouTube. I also enjoy visiting steam railways, interactive sites, theme parks, and cafes. However, I’m not keen on physical activity that involves walking.

Main Duties:

• Support me to get to appointments and meetings on time
• Attend appointments when needed to help me understand what has been discussed and decided
• Accompany me on days and evenings out around my interests

Skills / Values Required:

• Tolerance towards my interests
• Good communication skills
• Lots of patience and good powers of persuasion
• Ability to repeat instructions several times and not assume I’ve heard or understood
• Good listening skills and social skills
• Help me manage my money when we are out
• A non-smoker is preferred
• Driver essential
• Flexibility over hours worked

Hours and Rates of Pay:

• 6 hours weekdays
• 6 hours Saturdays
• Potential for additional hours
• £12.60 per hour weekday
• £15.69 per hour weekends
• Holiday Payable
• Additional mileage costs covered

• Essential PA Guide
• Safeguarding Adults/Children
• Understanding challenging behaviour
• First Aid
• Autism / Aspergers

.Transportation:

• Full UK driving license
• Own personal car
