About the Job

Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as Manager for our DEI Office!

About The Role

In this role, you will lead key diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives across Symetra. Reporting to the AVP of DEI Operations & Strategic Initiatives, you’ll lead a small team and oversee programs that support employee resource groups (ERGs), company-wide DEI efforts, and enterprise events like our Equity Summit. You will also ensure ERG and DEI initiatives align with employment law, labor standards, and equitable workplace practices so that our programs are both impactful and sustainable.

What You Will Do

Lead and Develop a High-Impact Team

  • Guide a small, mission-driven team supporting ERGs and DEI programs.
  • Foster collaboration, growth, and accountability while helping team members lead training, host conversations, and build tools that drive inclusion.

Drive ERG Strategy and Support

  • Ensure ERGs are empowered with clear goals, strong planning, and equitable resources.
  • Lead initiatives like the ERG Leadership Forum and partner with HR, Legal, and Communications to maintain ethical, legally sound, and sustainable practices.

Deliver Meaningful DEI Programming

  • Coordinate major initiatives including DEI Town Halls, Coffee Chats, and the annual Equity Summit.
  • Collaborate with Talent Development to integrate DEI into leadership programs and training.

Stay Ahead of the Curve

  • Monitor trends, benchmark practices, and share insights that help evolve our DEI strategy and keep Symetra at the forefront of inclusive workplace culture.
  • Anticipate compliance risks and embed awareness of labor, employment, and workplace equity standards into ERG and DEI operations.
