Job summary
A major Tier 1 contractor seeks a skilled Health and Safety Adviser for the Combwich Wharf Project in South West England. The role involves ensuring compliance with safety standards, conducting training, and overall health & safety responsibility. The ideal candidate holds a NEBOSH diploma and possesses at least five years of relevant experience in the construction or civil engineering sector.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years relevant health & safety experience in Construction/Civil engineering.
- Experience in facilitating registration surveillance visits.
Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with Safety Management Systems (SMS).
- Conduct audits and inspections for health & safety.

A major Tier 1 contractor is currently seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to work autonomously on ( Combwich Wharf Projects) the Combwich Wharf Project is linked tot he development of Hinckley Point but sits outside the HPC project near Bridgewater in Somerset
Responsibilities
- To ensure that the requirements of the SMS are being applied on site and administrative offices for the business, by means of periodic inspection, audits and meetings.
- Monitoring and facilitating compliance to the SMS and the requirements of BS OHSAS 18001:2007
- To provide information, training and instruction and task-specific advice to operational and managerial personnel.
- Training and induction of staff into the documented safety management systems.
- Raising health & safety awareness and responsibility company wide
- Co-ordinate and complete internal health & safety planning meetings, inspections
- Contribute to the review and revision of health & safety policies, plans, documented procedures and forms.
- Facilitate the production of health & safety related performance information, including but not restricted to corporate and health & safety objectives
Required Experience
- NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health, or equivalent
- Minimum Grad IOSH
- CSCS card holder.
- A qualified internal health & safety auditor with demonstrable experience of completing internal audits. Lead Auditor status beneficial but not essential.
- An understanding of the requirements of BS OHSAS 18001:2007 and experience in facilitating registration surveillance visits.
- A working knowledge of current and impending health & safety legislation
- Good presentation, written, analytical and IT skills.
- Training and presentation experience throughout all levels of an organisation.
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to guide and educate/train at all levels
- Self-confidence to build strong working relationships internally and externally.
- Demonstrable achievement in a similar roles
Specific Rail Qualifications/Expertise
Will hold personal track safety / LUCAS / Smartcard / CTRL operators licence as applicable to the scope of work and contract worked on
Must hold a minimum 5 years relevant health & safety experience in Construction / Civil engineering Rail desirable but not essential
