HSE Advisor

The Opportunity: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Industrial Health and Safety and Environment Advisor to join a team of HSE professionals within the manufacturing facility in Exeter. This is a full-time permanent position. The ideal candidate will be responsible for delivering professional Health & Safety and Environment advice across all areas of manufacturing and operations, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, and supporting the development and implementation of HSE strategies.

You will play a critical role in providing technical guidance, managing training programs, and liaising with both internal and external stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Ensure full compliance with UK legislation and company standards for environment, health, and safety.
  • Provide technical advice and support for a complex manufacturing site.
  • Design and deliver training programs, including toolbox talks, permit writing, risk assessment, and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain training databases, matrices, and annual schedules.
  • Assist with internal and external auditing processes and maintain COSHH systems and provide guidance to site team members.
  • Support and develop a team of local shop floor EHS Coordinators.
  • Accurately report and investigate incidents and near misses.
  • Complete and review risk assessments and safe systems of work in accordance with current legislation and company standards.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar Health & Safety and Environment role within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK and European health and safety legislation.
  • NEBOSH Certificate.
  • Ideally a degree in Health & Safety Management or the equivalent level of practical experience.
  • Proven EHS professional with excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
