Job summary
A leading healthcare provider in Kettering seeks a Specialist Biomedical Scientist (Band 6) to join their Haematology team. The successful candidate will have HCPC registration and experience in Haematology and Blood Transfusion. Responsibilities include rotating through various lab sections and performing complex analyses. The role offers a competitive salary ranging from £38,682 to £46,580 per annum on a full-time, permanent basis.

- Post-registration laboratory experience in Haematology and Transfusion is essential.
- Experience in NHS Haematology and Transfusion Laboratory is desirable.

Specialist Biomedical Scientist (Band 6) HCPC Registered with experience of Haematology and Blood Transfusion
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic HCPC registered specialist BMS with experience of working in Haematology and Transfusion, preferably within the NHS. Candidates should have completed their IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Haematology with Transfusion Practice.
The post holder will be required to actively participate in the 24/7, 365 rota following completion of in‑house training and competency assessment. Applicants will need to possess good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Rotate through all sections of the Haematology laboratory – Routine Haematology, Coagulation, Morphology and Blood Transfusion.
- Perform a variety of complex analytical procedures and handle hazardous chemical and biological materials safely.
- Maintain focus and concentration for extended time periods to reliably complete investigations.
- Contribute to future development of the Haematology service.
- Operate automated track systems, including Sysmex analysers, and provide in‑house haemoglobinopathy and specialist haemostasis testing.

- Good organisational skills, able to prioritise workload
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain high concentration levels
- Some understanding of results relating to direct patient care
- Teamwork capability
- Ability to train and develop others; team management or supervision experience (Desirable)
- Experience in SOP/RA/COSHH writing and review (Desirable)
